The AAC professional works on their own device, changes sync to the client's account, and the client continues using core AAC locally even without constant internet access.
1. Build boards quickly
Use a library of built-in symbols (Mulberry, CC BY-SA) or generate custom symbols with AI. Describe what you need — "child washing hands" — and get a symbol in seconds. No design skills needed.
2. Organise boards and vocabulary
Use Modified Fitzgerald Key color coding to categorize vocabulary by word type. AbilityMic auto-suggests standard colors: yellow for nouns, green for verbs, blue for adjectives.
3. Use in session
During everyday communication or an AAC session, the user taps symbols and AbilityMic speaks the sentence. Optional AI shapes selections into natural phrases. Core features continue to work offline.
4. Sync to the client's device
Save the board to the client's account so it appears on their device. You can also export a print-ready PDF for low-tech AAC use.

Consent, not admin rights
The person using AAC decides what you can see.
There is no back door into a client’s device. The link between an AAC professional and a client is created from the client’s own account — and on a child profile the app asks a parent or authorised guardian to confirm consent in the Privacy Center first — and it can be ended from either side.
The client generates an 8-character invite code in the app. It is valid for 15 minutes, works once, and our server keeps it only as a hash.
Two permissions, chosen separately. Board management and aggregated usage statistics are independent switches, so you can be given boards with no usage data at all.
You enter the code once from your own account, and the client appears in your list.
Either side can revoke the link at any time, without asking the other.
What the statistics contain — and what they do not
Counts and patterns: boards opened, tiles activated, sentences formed, session summaries and active days.
Identifiers, not content: boards and tiles are reported as hashed identifiers, so you see how much and how often — never what was said.
No message text and no recordings leave the device through this channel.
Descriptive only: these are usage numbers, not assessment scores or therapy outcomes.
The AAC professional portal is in the iPhone, iPad and Mac app; board work is also available from the web panel.
